I'm unsure of what the top gemstone is. I bought it at a trading post on the side of the road during a road trip in Arizona. I got both stones on the same day. They must have wanted to be together :)

The series this pendant is a part of is called Cairns. Rock cairns are stacks of rocks that can be seen marking hiking trails. Rock stacking has carried spiritual meaning across cultures for centuries. The act of balancing stones carries with it a practice of patience and a physical effort of creating balance.
In a sense I'm still trying to find balance with these pendants. How do the stones work with one another? How do they need to be wrapped functionally and aesthetically? Its intention and patience and it is my version of a wearable cairn.
